Pancakes on the Plaza – a Santa Fe 4th of July Tradition
It’s that time of year again when most of you are packing your swimsuits to head to the lake. Or packing the camper to head to the mountains for some fishing.
We’re all for that sort of thing, so we’ll be packing the pickup to head to Heron Lake for a few nights over the 4th of July week. BUT, we will definitely be back before Wednesday morning so that we can partake of the Pancakes on the Plaza.
As the website says, when locals think about July 4th, they think “Pancakes on the Plaza.” Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santa Fe and First National Santa Fe, this event is in it’s 43rd year of serving thousands of Santa Feans and tourists alike.
For $8 in advance, $10 on the day of the event, and beginning at 7 a.m., you can enjoy a heaping plate of pancakes made by one of the hundreds of volunteers. You can sit on the grass on the Plaza and enjoy your meal, or you can stroll down Lincoln Street to view the classic cars that show up annually for this event. You’ll run into neighbors, friends from church, that couple you saw drinking margaritas at the Drury Alto Bar last week, and me.
It’s great fun. Great food. For a great cause. See you there!
